18-Year-Old Wife Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Husband Over Phone, Money in Bauchi

An 18-year-old woman, Fatima Dalha, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her 30-year-old husband during a domestic dispute over money, a mobile phone and clothing wrappers.

The incident occurred at about 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Lirr Bajar, Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, who confirmed the incident, said the disagreement escalated into a physical altercation after the woman demanded the return of her money and personal belongings, which she alleged were in her husband’s possession.

According to the police, the argument turned violent when Fatima allegedly picked up a nearby knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach, leaving him seriously injured.

Police operatives attached to the Dass Divisional Police Headquarters reportedly rushed to the scene and rescued the suspect from an angry mob that had gathered and threatened to lynch her.

The injured man was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he was receiving medical treatment, according to the police account.

Habib disclosed that the suspect had been taken into custody and the knife allegedly used in the attack recovered.

He added that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for further investigation.

Reacting to the incident, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over domestic violence involving young couples.

The commissioner urged spouses to resolve disagreements peacefully through dialogue, family intervention, community elders and lawful channels rather than resorting to violence.

He also cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands, assuring the public that the police would handle the case professionally.
